#CircularWasteEU: Agro2Circular joins ICONS' social media campaign for the International Day of Zero Waste 2024
The international Day of Zero Waste is an opportunity to team up with other projects for focusing on the impact of human activity on the planet
ICONS, in collaboration with many EU-funded projects, launches a social media campaign to support the International Day of Zero Waste 2024.
Why?
Humanity produces an enormous amount of waste, which significantly impacts climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution. Between 2.1 billion and 2.3 billion tonnes of municipal solid waste are generated annually, with only 61–62% of it managed properly. Controlling production and consumption and improving waste management are critical for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
To tackle the waste crisis, the United Nations declared March 30 as International Day of Zero Waste in 2022. On this day, various stakeholders are encouraged to promote sustainable consumption and production, transition to circularity, and raise awareness about zero-waste initiatives.
ICONS, actively engaged in EU-funded projects on circular economy, will participate in the International Day of Zero Waste 2024. throughout the collaboration with various EU-funded projects: K-CCRI, Woodcircles, Reconstruct, Plastice, ViSS, B-ferst, Cultivate, and Rebelion.
The social campaign, labeled #CircularWasteEU, will primarily feature short videos where project coordinators or partners discuss how circularity can lead to a potentially zero-waste world and how their projects contribute to this goal. Each participating project will promote the campaign through its channels from March 4 to March 30, inviting other interested parties to join.
All initiatives, projects, or companies are welcome to join the campaign!
