From dreams to reality: TExTOUR's journey in sustainable tourism
In September 2024, the TExTOUR project will end. In these years, we learned, experimented, and created innovative solutions to find a sustainable path for cultural tourism development in remote areas in Europe and beyond. Let's see how we did.
When travel ends, two things may happen.
We can return to our everyday life, memories of places, faces, and experiences slowly fading.
Or we can use what we learned to transform our life, keeping in touch with who we met, reviving and reinventing our experiences.
Our journey together as the TExTOUR project lasted almost four years, and it was an adventurous one.
We decided to explore unknown paths, bringing our knowledge, skills, and desire to build a better future for our territories. In these years together we get to know each other, our strengths and weaknesses, our cultures, histories, and traditions.
But most importantly, we created together something that will last, live, and evolve after the end of our journey: our methodology, tested in eight pilot sites in Europe and beyond, our resources, scientific papers, and communication material, available to everybody on our website, and our online platform.

This is our living heritage for those who will follow in our footsteps. Take it, make it yours, transform it, and keep rethinking cultural heritage in Europe and beyond.
