A new exhibition wants to spark dialogue and action for a healthier, more sustainable and equitable food system
The "CLEVERFOOD for everyone" exhibition takes its name from the EU-funded project launching it. What people eat has a significant impact on health, society and the planet. Through this exhibition, EU citizens of all ages will deepen their knowledge on food system issues and will be inspired for a more sustainable future.
"CLEVERFOOD for everyone" embodies the concept of constant motion, reflecting the dynamic movement of goods, services, and people inherent in our global food system. It features 11 accessible themed exhibits and will be hosted by museums and science centres across Hungary, Poland, Denmark, Cyprus, and Ireland, starting from October 2024 to January 2026. The first centre to host the travelling exhibition will be the Museum of Hungarian Agriculture in Budapest, Hungary, from early October 2024 until January 2025.
The exhibition was co-created by all the CLEVERFOOD partners in a process coordinated by Ciência Viva, which was also responsible for the exhibition's content development, production follow-up, and delivery.
Visitors will discover how food influences people's identities, communities, and cultures; explore how dietary choices impact health, society, and the environment; uncover strategies and alternatives for building a fairer, more sustainable future; reflect on the power of our plates and find inspiration to drive meaningful change.
"The way food impacts health, society and the environment is one of Ciência Viva´s main concerns, as we are creating a network of farms to engage citizens with food production in a sustainable way. Coordinating the development of the CLEVERFOOD exhibition is an extraordinary way of applying our experience in co-designing and co-creating exhibitions to such an important topic. We hope citizens will engage with this exhibition and join the movement towards a better food system!", says Ana Noronha, executive director of Ciência Viva.
The exhibition serves as a powerful tool to unravel the overwhelming complexities surrounding food issues, illustrating how knowledge is a valuable ally in illuminating alternative and sustainable paths, and encouraging everyone to become part of the solution.
Background:
The EU-funded CLEVERFOOD project aims to establish a fair, healthy, and sustainable food system. It created and made operational the two networks: the FOOD 2030 Project Collaboration Network and the FOOD 2030 Connected Lab Network, to effectively achieve its goals.
Ciência Viva is a national organization with a network of 20 science centres in Portugal that promotes science engagement.
ECSITE, a partner of the CLEVERFOOD project, unites over 320 organizations dedicated to inspiring people through science and technology, advancing science engagement through professional events, projects, and publications.
